No Spend Crafts - Using My Stash for Challenge "Old Stamps"

I have 10 minutes left in Call Me Crafty Al's No Spend Challenge number 3, "Old Stamps". Check out her video here about this challenge.  This is my last submission!

Using a 2014 Ugly Sweater stamp set from Simon Says Stamp, I layered on Nuvo Glimmer Paste onto white cardstock (recommend a heavy weight) and heat embossed with 3 Wow! Embossing Powder colors from more than 2 seasons ago.  I have used Rainbow Black Embossing Glitter for the sentiment, Ruby Romance Embossing Glitter on the vest, and Silver Bells Embossing Glitter for the Christmas tree on the sweater.

No Spend Crafts - Using My Stash for Challenge "Super Sketchy"

Another fun and quick project in response to Alicia at CallMeCraftyAl's No Spend November challenge. (Yes, it's December but all entries are due in a couple hours; last day!!)

My dentist hands out a lot of gift cards over the holidays, so I put together a dozen or so gift card holders for her to add a touch of festivity to her gifts.

I was inspired by this post Su's project for a blog hop post several weeks ago.  Su posts a tutorial, but here's the quick overview.

Cut the 8 1/2″ X 11″ cardstock into two pieces that are 7 3/4″ X 5″.  Score at 6″ and 2 1/2″.
Cut two pieces of patterned paper: The bottom front is 4 3/4″ X 2 1/4″. The top front is 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″.
Cut one piece of plain white or cream cardstock for the sentiment on the inside, 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″.
She did not have an official sketch as I saw for similar ones online, but you can look at the pictures for a rough idea.

No Spend Crafts - Using My Stash for Challenge 'Trusted Technique' for a Twisted Gift Card Holder

I'm sticking with the gift card holder theme so that I can give friends and my dentist a variety pack for their gift giving.

I actually forgot how simple this technique is. You can spend a lot of time embellishing and decorating it because the card itself is less than a minute to 'twist' into shape.

I found this video tutorial on You Tube from Twisted Gift Card holder with Sara.
The video was posted May 15, 2014. I was looking for an older tutorial to fulfill Challenge # 5 Trusted Technique for Alicia's Crafty No Spend November challenge.

Love that I found this one again. I'm off to make more!

No Spend Crafts - Using My Stash for Challenge "Sweet Treat"

Hello, Internet.

I'm returning back to my neglected things including this blog to resuscitate some life into all things I once thought fun and beautiful.

It starts with a No Spend November challenge from Crafty Al on YouTube. She had an open invitation to join her on a "no spend" crafting journey where you basically dip into the hoard of all things crafy and get moving on various themes she offered up throughout the month.

This was my response:

So, in various channels, I'm posting my projects starting with #13 "Sweet Treat".  Here was the inspiration video that Alicia posted.

Here's my project.

Base layers were a scallop circle and cupcake base cut from Cricut Cartridge appropriately called Sweet Treats.  I dry embossed the cupcake liners and adhered it to bottom third of scalloped circle.

I embellished a few and built up a stash to use these on tags, cards and journal pages.

I used paper scraps and embellishments from last holiday and tapped into the embossing folders I had not yet used. So many check marks on this one project!

2018 Reading Challenge, 1 book down, 11 to go.

A Mortal Likeness (Victorian Mystery, #2)A Mortal Likeness by Laura Joh Rowland
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book was off the beaten path of preferred mystery writing styles that I sometimes wander from but unfortunately not for the better.

If you want a book that is essentially terrific at illustrating how a typical person like I would approach a mystery we decided to try to solve, this is it. Maybe that is what the title means. All the heroine's progress was trial and error, she was highly emotional about personal and profession matters, and the smartest person in the book seems to be the street smart kid.
